Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her stage title Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The singer continued uploading her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it together with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Then, on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 13, she released two more singles called No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The 20th of February, 2019, a music video was made available for the track. It has already received nearly 3 million views on YouTube within its debut week. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
