Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently along with the president Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
